About publicinformation.ie

publicinformation.ie is a web portal for viewing and submitting Freedom of Information (FOI) requests. You can search records already released by public bodies, read how others have asked, and send your own request to any Irish public body covered by the Freedom of Information Act 2014.

How it works

Requests you make through this site are published here so that the correspondence around them is a public record — that is the point of Freedom of Information. Your name and the text of your request become public when you submit it, and public bodies' responses are published too.

Built on open source

This site runs on Froide, the free and open-source platform for Freedom of Information portals, which powers FOI sites in countries around the world. You can find the software and its source code at the Froide project on GitHub.

Who runs it

The platform is managed by an individual, Dave Anderson, on a non-commercial and best-effort basis. There is no organisation behind it and no commercial interest in the data it publishes. It is provided as a public service, with the reliability and support that an individual best-effort project can offer.

If something published here should not be, tell us via the Report a problem with a published record page, or email us at dave@publicinformation.ie.
